THE “BELL & GONG” PINOT NOIR 2016

2016 was the warmest and earliest start to a vintage on record in Tasmania with harvest commencing in early March and concluding prior to the end of April. The warm, dry ripening season provided ideal conditions for fruit set, with above average yields recorded in most regions and aided by minimal disease pressure.

Fruit for this wine was hand-picked and wild fermented in open vats, hand plunged twice daily. A small whole bunch ferment component enhances the wines aromatics and complexity. Matured for 10 months in a mix of older (2, 3 and 4 year old) and 20% new French oak barriques with malolactic fermentation in barrel and full lees maturation prior to final blending and bottling.

This is a rich and earthy pinot noir with an enticing and concentrated palate of cherries, strawberries and spice, with long, silky tannins.

Limited First Release Vintage of 1463 bottles, individually numbered.

Dear Frances and Simon
We are so proud of your Pinot Noir, the combination of cherries, strawberries and spices has proven to be, I believe, one of the greatest tasting wines I have had the pleasure of experiencing.
Truly a beautiful Red.
PS Maggie's looking forward to the launch of your Riesling.
Thanks for the pleasure
Neil
